This Privacy Policy outlines the practices concerning the collection and use of data on Cloudly.

Information We Collect

The only information we collect and store are the messages that users send within chat rooms.

A “message” consists solely of:

• Message content (the text the user writes)
• Timestamp (when the message was sent)

These are stored temporarily, to provide the chat functionality and maintain conversation history. We do not collect or store IP addresses, device information, or any other personal data.

Use of Information

The messages we collect are used solely for the purpose of facilitating conversations within the chat rooms. We do not use this information for any other purposes, such as marketing or data analysis.

Data Retention

Cloudly retains chat messages only for as long as they are needed to provide the chat experience. Messages are stored in an SQLite database and are automatically deleted based on the following rules:

• Only the 10 most recent messages in each chat room are kept.
• Older messages are automatically deleted once they fall outside this 10-message history.
• Additionally, any message older than 24 hours is deleted, even if it is still within the most recent 10 messages.

This means that every message is short-lived and is removed either when it is no longer part of the recent chat history or once it exceeds 24 hours, whichever comes first.

Cloudly does not retain long-term message archives.

Hashed IP Addresses

For security and abuse prevention purposes (such as rate limiting, temporary banning, and moderation) Cloudly uses hashed IP addresses. We never store or log actual IP addresses.

How it works:

• When Cloudly needs to evaluate traffic for security purposes, the IP address is immediately hashed using SHA-256 combined with a unique salt.
• The resulting hash is used internally to detect repeated abusive behavior (ie.: spamming, DDoS).
• The original IP address is never stored or logged.
• Hashed IP data is used exclusively for automated moderation and cannot be reversed or linked to any identifiable information.

Links to Other Sites

Cloudly may contain links to other sites that are not operated by us. If you click a third party link, you will be directed to that third party’s site. We strongly advise you to review the Privacy Policy of every site you visit.

We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies or practices of any third party sites or services.

Data Protection

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to ensure a level of security appropriate to the risk of processing your personal data. However, please be aware that no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page.
